Creating a Digital Portfolio
In this project, students will learn how to create a digital portfolio to showcase their writing skills. The project will cover the following learning outcomes:
- Students will know how to use digital tools to create a portfolio
- Students will understand the importance of organizing their writing samples
- Students will be able to create a digital portfolio that showcases their writing skills
Methodology
The project will be divided into three parts:
- Introduction to digital portfolios and selecting writing samples
- Organizing writing samples and creating a digital portfolio using Google Sites
- Presenting and sharing digital portfolios with the class
Resources/Materials Required
- Access to computers or tablets
- Google Sites account
- Writing samples from students
Instructions
Part 1: Introduction to digital portfolios and selecting writing samples
- Introduce the concept of digital portfolios and explain why they are important for showcasing writing skills
- Have students select their best writing samples to include in their portfolio
Part 2: Organizing writing samples and creating a digital portfolio using Google Sites
- Teach students how to organize their writing samples into categories (e.g. persuasive writing, descriptive writing, etc.)
- Guide students through the process of creating a digital portfolio using Google Sites
Part 3: Presenting and sharing digital portfolios with the class
- Have students present their digital portfolios to the class
- Encourage students to provide feedback and constructive criticism to their peers
Assessment
Assessment will be based on the following criteria:
- Organization and presentation of writing samples
- Use of digital tools to create a portfolio
- Overall quality of the digital portfolio
