Creating a Digital Portfolio
In this project, students will learn how to create a digital portfolio to showcase their work throughout the school year. The project will cover the following learning outcomes:
- Students will know how to use digital tools to create a portfolio
- Students will understand the importance of organizing and presenting their work
- Students will be able to create a digital portfolio that showcases their learning
Methodology
The project will be divided into three parts:
- Introduction to digital portfolios and selecting a platform
- Organizing and uploading work to the portfolio
- Presenting the portfolio to the class
Resources/Materials Required
- Access to computers or tablets
- Internet access
- Various student work samples (writing, artwork, projects, etc.)
- Examples of digital portfolios
Instructions
Part 1: Introduction to Digital Portfolios
- Introduce the concept of digital portfolios and show examples of portfolios created by other students
- Discuss the benefits of creating a digital portfolio, such as showcasing their work to future teachers or employers
- Have students select a platform to use for their portfolio (such as Google Sites or Weebly)
Part 2: Organizing and Uploading Work
- Have students gather various work samples from throughout the school year
- Discuss the importance of organizing their work and creating a cohesive portfolio
- Guide students through the process of uploading their work to their chosen platform
Part 3: Presenting the Portfolio
- Have students present their portfolios to the class
- Encourage students to discuss their learning and growth throughout the school year
- Provide time for classmates to ask questions and provide feedback
Assessment
Assessment will be based on the following criteria:
- Completion of all three parts of the project
- Organization and presentation of the portfolio
- Reflection on learning and growth throughout the school year
