Spelling Bee Bonanza!

Today, we're going to have a spelling bee competition to help improve our spelling skills. The learning outcomes for this lesson include:

• Identifying and spelling common words
• Using context clues to determine the correct spelling of a word
• Developing confidence in spelling abilities

Methodology:

We will start by reviewing a list of common words that third graders should know how to spell. Then, we will practice using context clues to determine the correct spelling of a word. Finally, we will have a spelling bee competition where students will take turns spelling words out loud.

Instructions:

1. Review the list of common words with the class.
2. Discuss how to use context clues to determine the correct spelling of a word.
3. Explain the rules of the spelling bee competition.
4. Start the competition and have students take turns spelling words out loud.
5. Keep track of each student's score and announce the winner at the end.
