Exploring the Wonders of the Solar System

Methodology:

Instructions:

1. Begin the activity by introducing the topic of the solar system and its importance in understanding our universe.
2. Divide the students into small groups and assign each group a planet from the solar system.
3. Provide the students with textbooks or online resources to research and gather information about their assigned planet.
4. Encourage the students to take notes and gather interesting facts about their planet's size, composition, atmosphere, moons, and any other relevant information.
5. Once the research is complete, instruct the students to create a model of the solar system using art supplies. They should include the sun, all eight planets, and any other significant celestial bodies they find interesting (e.g., asteroids, comets).
6. Remind the students to consider the scale and distances within the solar system while creating their models. They can use different sizes of colored paper or other creative methods to represent the varying sizes of the planets.
7. After the models are completed, have each group present their planet and model to the class. Encourage them to share the most fascinating facts they discovered during their research.
