Methodology:
This activity will be conducted over a span of two weeks, incorporating a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles. The methodology includes:

Resources/Materials Required:
- Textbooks or online resources on local government
- Chart paper and markers
- Art supplies for crafts

- Local government brochures or pamphlets
Instructions:
Week 1:
- Begin the lesson by asking students what they know about government. Write their responses on chart paper.
- Introduce the concept of local government and explain its purpose and functions. Use examples from the students' community to make it relatable.
- Divide the class into small groups and assign each group a specific local government service (e.g., parks and recreation, waste management, public safety).
- Ask each group to research and create a poster or presentation about their assigned service, including its importance and how it benefits the community.
- Allow time for group presentations and encourage class discussions on the different services provided by local government.
Week 2:
- Review the roles and responsibilities of local government officials, such as the mayor, city council members, and school board members.
- Organize a mock election in the classroom, where students can campaign for a class representative. Discuss the importance of voting and decision-making in a democratic society.
- Engage students in an interactive game or simulation where they can experience the decision-making process of local government officials.
- Conclude the activity by distributing local government brochures or pamphlets to students, encouraging them to explore more about their community's government.
Assessment:
Throughout the activity, assess students' understanding through:
- Participation in class discussions and group activities
- Quality of group presentations
- Completion of individual or group projects
- Performance in the interactive game or simulation
Additionally, you can assign a short written reflection where students can express their thoughts on the importance of local government and how it impacts their daily lives.
