Instructions:
Day 1:
- Begin by introducing the alphabet to the students using alphabet flashcards. Show each flashcard and encourage students to repeat the letter name and associated sound.
- Engage the students in a group discussion about the importance of the alphabet in reading and writing.
- Provide each student with a set of letter manipulatives. Instruct them to sort the letters into uppercase and lowercase groups.
- As a class, create a large alphabet chart on the whiteboard or chart paper. Ask students to take turns placing the corresponding letter manipulative on the chart.
Day 2:
- Review the alphabet using the alphabet flashcards.
- Introduce a letter of the day. Discuss its sound and show examples of words that start with that letter.
- Provide each student with a printable worksheet featuring the letter of the day. Instruct them to color the pictures that begin with the target letter.
- Encourage students to share their completed worksheets with the class, identifying the pictures they colored.
Day 3:
- Review the alphabet and the previously introduced letters.
- Engage the students in an interactive alphabet game on a computer or tablet. Choose a game that focuses on letter recognition and phonemic awareness.
- Allow students to take turns playing the game, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Conclude the activity by revisiting the alphabet chart created on Day 1. Ask students to identify and name the letters on the chart.
Assessment:
To assess the students' learning, observe their participation and engagement throughout the activity. Additionally, evaluate their ability to:
- Identify and name the letters of the alphabet
- Recognize and differentiate between uppercase and lowercase letters
- Associate the correct sound with each letter
- Color the pictures that begin with the target letter
