Instructions:

Step 2: Direct Instruction (Understand)
Provide a brief explanation of each part of speech, highlighting their functions and roles in a sentence. Use examples to illustrate how each part of speech is used.
Step 3: Group Activity (Understand)
Divide the class into small groups and distribute index cards or sticky notes. Assign each group a specific part of speech. Instruct the groups to brainstorm as many examples of their assigned part of speech as possible within a given time frame.
