Instructions:
Step 1: Introduction (10 minutes)
Begin the lesson by discussing the importance of personal hygiene and nutrition for maintaining a healthy body. Use the whiteboard or blackboard to write down key points and encourage students to share their own experiences and knowledge.
Step 2: Handwashing Demonstration (15 minutes)
Set up a handwashing station in the classroom and demonstrate proper handwashing techniques. Explain the importance of washing hands before meals, after using the restroom, and after playing outside. Allow students to practice handwashing under your supervision.
Step 3: Food Groups Activity (20 minutes)
Show the students a food pyramid poster or visual aid that represents the different food groups. Discuss each food group and its importance in maintaining a balanced diet. Then, distribute healthy food pictures or flashcards to the students and ask them to categorize the foods into the appropriate food groups. Encourage discussion and provide guidance as needed.
Step 4: Healthy Habits Art Project (30 minutes)
Divide the students into small groups and provide them with art supplies. Instruct each group to create a poster or collage that showcases different healthy habits, such as brushing teeth, eating fruits and vegetables, exercising, and getting enough sleep. Allow the students to be creative and express their understanding of the topic through their artwork.
Step 5: Presentation and Reflection (10 minutes)
Give each group an opportunity to present their artwork to the class. After each presentation, facilitate a brief discussion about the healthy habits depicted in the artwork and why they are important. Encourage students to reflect on what they have learned throughout the activity.
Assessment:
To assess the students' understanding of the topic, observe their participation during the discussions and activities. Additionally, review their categorization of food groups and evaluate their artwork based on the inclusion of relevant healthy habits. Provide feedback and reinforcement as necessary.
