Instructions:
Introduction (10 minutes):
Begin the lesson by asking students if they know where their food comes from. Discuss their responses and introduce the concept of agriculture as the process of growing plants and raising animals for food, clothing, and other products.
Activity 1: Parts of a Plant (15 minutes):
Show students pictures of different plants and ask them to identify the different parts of a plant (roots, stem, leaves, flowers, and fruits). Discuss the functions of each part and how they contribute to the plant's growth.
Activity 2: Planting Seeds (20 minutes):
Provide each student with a small planting pot or cup, soil, and seeds. Guide them in planting their own seeds and explain the importance of providing water and sunlight for the seeds to grow. Encourage students to take responsibility for their plants and observe their growth over time.
Activity 3: Plant Crafts (15 minutes):
Engage students in a creative activity by having them create plant crafts using markers, paper, scissors, and glue. They can draw and cut out different parts of a plant and assemble them to create their own plant artwork.
Conclusion (5 minutes):
Wrap up the lesson by reviewing the key concepts discussed and asking students to share what they have learned about plants and agriculture.
Assessment:
Assess students' understanding through informal observations during discussions and activities. Additionally, ask students to draw and label the different parts of a plant as a formative assessment.
