Instructions:
1. Begin the lesson by asking students what they think geography is and why it is important. Write their responses on the board.
2. Introduce the definition of geography as the study of the Earth's physical features, climate, and human populations, and explain its significance in understanding the world around us.
3. Show students a world map and a globe, highlighting the continents and oceans. Discuss the differences between maps and globes, and explain how they help us visualize the Earth.
4. Engage students in a virtual tour using an interactive online map. Allow them to explore different countries, landmarks, and geographical features. Encourage them to ask questions and share interesting facts they discover.
5. Distribute printed worksheets with a blank world map. Instruct students to label the continents and oceans using colored pencils or markers. Provide guidance and support as needed.
6. Divide the class into small groups and assign each group a specific continent. Ask them to research and create a presentation about the continent's geography, climate, major countries, and notable landmarks. They can use computers or tablets to gather information and create slideshows or posters.
7. Allow each group to present their findings to the class. Encourage questions and discussions to deepen understanding.
