Instructions:
- Begin the activity by discussing the solar system with your students. Introduce the names of the eight planets and their order from the sun.
- Provide each student with a piece of poster board or large paper.
- Ask the students to draw a large circle in the center of their paper to represent the sun.
- Next, have the students cut out smaller circles from colored paper or use printed images of the planets to represent each planet in the solar system.
- Encourage the students to research and learn about the characteristics of each planet. They can write or draw these characteristics on each planet cutout.
- Once the students have their planet cutouts ready, instruct them to glue the planets in the correct order around the sun on their poster board.
- After completing their solar system models, allow the students to share their creations with the class. Encourage them to explain the characteristics of each planet as they present.
Assessment:
Assess the students' understanding of the solar system by observing their participation in the activity, their ability to correctly order the planets, and their explanations of the characteristics of each planet.
